Projects and Activities

v I. Development of a Planning Document for Silver Saddle Ranch
The Friends of Silver Saddle Ranch was selected as a recipient to receive assistance from the Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program for the development of a document that will identify future plans for Silver Saddle Ranch.

Creating a Community Vision - Silver Saddle Ranch and the Carson River An opportunity for community members to provide input into the planning process for Silver Saddle Ranch and the Carson River Corridor. v b. Carson City Lands Bill
Monitoring the status of the Carson City Lands Bill and it's potential impact to the future land ownership and management plans for Silver Saddle Ranch.


v II. Environmental Education Program
a.) Provide educational programs (indoors and outdoors) to area organizations and groups interested in learning about Silver Saddle Ranch and the natural resources it provides our community.

b.) Research cultural and biological resource information and develop a variety of interpretive projects to make this information available to the community.


v III. Conservation Program
a.) Identify potential conservation projects, grant requests and funding opportunities. Emphasis for these projects will be focused on the Carson River to monitor, maintain and enhance the riparian habitat corridor.

b.) Enhance wildlife habitat by providing additional bird nesting habitat.
Monitoring and maintaining bird and bird nest boxes.



v IV. Trail and Ranch Maintenance Program
a.) Monitor existing trails, identify potential hazards and concerns, and repair trails as needed.

b.) Monitor ranch structures, fencing etc. identify maintenance needs and make repairs as needed.


v V. Recreational Program
Provide organized group recreational activities at the ranch.
